The problem with hard determinism is I am determined to disagree with you but the deterministic world has not equipped me with a determined argument to support my disagreement, and since I am determined, I could not know the argument in the first place, (or anything else for that matter) therefore determinism.
Hi Daniel, thanks for commenting! Yeah, I think similar problems confront compatibilistic accounts of determinism and freedom. It seems awfully difficult to get away from the fact that everything, including present considerations, are determined, if any version of complete causal determinism is true.
